Alex dancing Gif

I
I created the gif on Photoshop by adding the video on to it and going to Window - Timeline to be able to see the clips at the bottom of the screen.
I then coloured then in ussing the tablet which connects to the mac to make it easier to colour it in.
I changed the timing of the clip so it would go slower so you can actually appreciate the different variety of dance moves along with the background change.
I saw in a music video where they would record themselves playing then the video would turn into different colours really quickly then go back to the video which made me want to that but only to the background.

Bear Walk Cycle

I did this using After effects to link the arms and legs and head to the body. The i also used the puppet tool which is used to be able to move objects around such as his arms, i have him elbows as in photoshop it was just straight with no movement at the joint whatsoever.
I then copied the same small clip over and over again but just changing the position so it made sense and flow.

What some of these animated films have in common is that some of them are franchise.
A Franchise is a series of films such as The Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, Jurassic Park etc…
They tend to be more successful that normal films as you have already got your audience. For example in The Hobbit's poster it said 'From the director of The Lord Of The Rings' which means that if you liked that film you will most probably like The Hobbit.
Therefore in this case if you've seen Despicable Me and you like it you would probably go and see the second one as you might have liked the story line and/or the characters etc…
Franchises are easy money access as if the first film was a success there is a higher chancre than the second will be too.

This films also have stablished companies in common such as Pixar, Dream Works and Universal.
Everyone can see these films as they are rated PG therefore families would go to the cinema therefore its easy money for the director etc…

The target audience for these films are mostly children but teenagers and older adults might go and see it maybe because famous well known actors have done the voice acting for the characters or because its funny such as despicable me.

Character Shapes 4 Tom

Character Shapes 3 AGNES

Character Shapes 2

Mike Wazowski: He is a round character which fits very well with his character as round is meant to represent a safe character, someone complete and incapable of hurting anyone. Mike is a really kind character and he is quite a funny guy. Same goes with Mario, he is also a safe character and he is the hero of the video game of Super Mario.

James P Sullivan: He is a tough and brave guy and he's represented as a rectangle which has pointy corner which suggest that he's more dangerous than Mike. Same goes with Wreck-It Ralph, he is the bad guy of a video game, he is strong and aggressive which is why he's called Wreck-It as he wrecks stuff.

Randal Boggs: He is a triangular shape which is also pointy but its often used to represent the villain as they appear to look more sinister. Same goes to Don Paolo.

P2. SHAPES IN CHARACTER DESIGN

Character Design

Character design is the combination os physical traits and narrative.
'Narrative/storyline defines the personality of a character and gives context, genre and setting.
If you design the personality first you know what your character is like and then you get the chance to draw it and show his personality by looks.
However if you draw it first you get lead by the looks of the character which may represent him as something completely different than you had in mind.

The face us the primary channel to express emotion which is why characters in animation have a huge head and sometimes even face features such as eyes as it might make you like the character more as most people tend to think that people with big eyes are cute.

The posture and the body language can say a lot about a character. For example with Mickey Mouse we see him standing with his arms wide open which gives us the idea that he is a friendly and happy character.

This allows for personality trays to be identifiable in silhouette.
Sdarski states that how a character carries their physical weight cal tell us about their personality; which body part they lead with is important.
For example a hero leads with his chest such as Superman.
And also people who lead with the pelvis tend to be lazy and laid back characters such as Goofy and Shaggy.
Also there is a theory that people who lead with their head tend to be more intelligent such as Gru from Despicable Me.
And character who lead with their knees tend to be cowards.

Cuddy states that power and dominance reduces around expanding power; expand take the upscale.

PIXAR

PIXAR

Pixar Animated Studios was found on the 3rd of February in 1986 by Ed Catmull, Alvy Ray Smith and finally Steve Jobs. But it was officially made in 1979 and in those times it was called Lucasfilm.
The headquarters are Emeryville, California, United states.
The presidents of this well known studio is Ed Catmull and John Lasseter and the general manager and executive VP of production is Jim Morris.

In 2006, Pixar was bought by The Walt Disney Company and it was worth $7.4 billion.
Pixar made fourteen films in 1995 and the first one they ever made was Toy Story, they were all really successful.

Steve Jobs paid $5 million to George Lucas for technology rights after he left the Apple Company, Pixar started as admission of Lucasfilm before Steve bought it.
Pixar Image Computer was sold to the medical community and government and Walt Disney Studios was one of their buyers.
Pixar's computers weresnt selling as much as they thought they would be which put the Company in danger so Steve Jobs kept donating more and more money to keep the Company alive which made him took the company away from the directors and employers, and finally he managed the whole company for a $50 million investment.
Pixar sold his hardware division to Vicoms System in April of 1990, the same year that Pixar moved San Rafael to Richmond which is in California.
Walt Disney Studio because its more important partner as although Pixar moved to California they still had a great relationship.

In 1991 including the company's president Chuck Kolstad had to leave the Company along with some other 30 employers as they had a rough beginning which left them with its original number which is 42 employers.
Pixar made a $26 million contract with Walt Disney to produce 3 animated films and one of them was Toy Story which was the first ever film Pixar did in 1995 and in general.
Apart from all the income they received for this film the company was still losing money therefore Steve Jobs, chairman and now owner often thought about selling Pixar, and one of the companies he was going to sell it to was Microsoft.
But after finding out how much Toy Story was a successful movie and how Disney wanted to distributed for a christmas seasonal film in 1995 he then decided to give another go to Pixar and keep the company. Toy Story managed to get over $361 million all around the world.
After that in November 2000 Pixar opened a noter studio in Emeryville.

Disney

Disney and Pixar had a disagreement after Toy Story 2 was released as Steve Jobs wanted to release another one yet Disney disagreed which then led to a shaky relationship between Steve Jobs and the chairman of Disney, Michael Eisner.
Disney was in charged of marketing and distribution while Pixar was in changed of production and creation of the film.
Disney owned pretty much all the story and sequel rights even though the profit was split 50-50.
In 2004, Pixar and Disney tried to make a new agreement but this time it would only be about distributing film, so Pixar wanted to own 100 profits of their films and the ones that were producing now paying Disney only 10 to 15 percent distribution fee.
In mid-2004 Pixar broke completely and was looking for another company to work with but did not success in finding it.

Techniques used by Pixar

Computer Generated Imagery. This technique is often used for video games, television, printed media, adverts, shorts and tv series.

Film or motion pictures is also a technique used by Pixar, which is a series of still images such as pictures that when it is shown on a screen it looks like its moving.
This is used to tell a story, create an atmosphere, show beauty and bring out emotions between the characters onto the audience which might involve the audience into the story by the still pictures.

They used Adobe photoshop to draw the characters and which only takes them a few seconds according to Mann who created the characters of Mike and Sully in Monsters University.

In Monsters Inc they used fine fur which was hard to make it look real and believable and also every bit of hair would have to render which took a long time to render the whole character including the location but it was definitely worth it was the final film look great and believable along with the facial expressions.

In Finding Nemo they spent a lot of time working on the location as its set underwater they had to make every fish, every plan and make sure the colour of the ground, background, shadows and so on looked real and make the audience look like they were underwater throughout the whole film.

Every film starts off with a storyboard which then its brought to life in a 2-d world and then Kepler technology comes in.
The curly hair was also another of Pixar's techniques with technology.

Film - Mulan

Mulan was directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook and this film was released in 2008.
The company that produced this movie is Walt Disney Animation Studios which was found on the 16th of October 1923.

And it was made by motion pictures.
The target audience for this film is to children as its a disney film but everyone can watch it, including old people, teenagers and so on.
The purpose of this film is to entertain and to inform.

Why do i like it?

I like this film because it shows how women were discriminated in the old days and in China and at the end she proves that just because she is a woman it doesnt mean she is useless or she cant do the same stuff that a man can.
Also i love this film because she is different, shes not like the other girls shes better.
Also i love the dragon and the actor who does the voice for it which is Eddie Murphy.

Web Series - Bravest Warriors

Bravest Warriors is directed by Pendleton Ward which is the same director a creator as Adventure Time which you can tell by the design of the characters.
It was released on the 10th pf January of 2009.
Two companies that produced this series are Frederator Studios and Cartoon Hangover.
The target audience for this series is mainly for children yet the fact that its a web series will attract more older people as they can access it easily.

Why do i like this?

I like this because its directed and created by the same director as Adventure Time and i love Adventure time.
Also Catbug is adorable and this episode really entertains and then again its got the whole superhero theme and friendship.
Catbug apart from being cute it is also quite fuunny.

Short Pixar - Ice Age

This short film from the Ice Age film was released on the 26th of November of 2002 which is directed by Carlos Saldanha.
The company that made it is Blue Sky Studio and the animation style is CGi animation.
The purpose of this short film its simply to entertain yet inform.
In informs you in such a way as its telling you that you have a lot of something yet if youre greedy youre going to lose everything you have just because you wanted more and more every time and you cant seem to have enough.
The target audience is to children yet the whole family could watch it and it might attract to teenagers as its funny and entertaining.

Why do i like this?

I like this because is very entertaining and i find Scrat absolutely hilarious and you really get to like the character. He is the kind of character that you either love or hate and i absolutely love the character as whenever he comes on he always makes me laugh.
I also like it because you really get to see the emotion in his face when something happen such as when you see that hes realised that everything is going to fall, you can tell that he regrets it. Also after that when he puts all of the nuts together you can see how happy and calm he is.

Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?

Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys was released on the 18th of June of 2013.
This music video was directed by David Wilson with animation agency Blinkink, this video was then uploaded to Youtube on the same day it was released and it got over 40million views and became the most viewable video of the Arctic Monkeys.
Blinkink produce live action, animation and visual effects-based multidisciplinary work including music videos and and commercials using CPI.
The target audience for this video was mainly made for Arctic Monkeys fans which are mainly teenagers but it can expand onto older people who might be into Indie Rock.
The purpose of the animation is to mainly entertain the viewer and to inform the waveform of the sound of the guitar and the rhythm of the song which later on goes into shapes which are used to entertain and tell a
story.

Why do i like Do I Wanna Know? by Arctic Monkeys
I like this video because apart from being a great song its got a really entertaining video that tells a story.
I think that the way that the waveform of the sound flows really well with the shapes and its neatly changed into other shapes without being rough and noticeable.
Also it engages you all throughout the video as you cant seem to be able to take your eyes off it. I like the colour of it, how it starts with black and white and occassionally there will be some colours yet it goes back to black and white.
I also noticed a really good detail in the waveform of the sound, in the middle you can see AM which obviously stands out for Arctic Monkeys.

Adventure time

Adventure time is an american animated television series and it was released on the 7th of December of 2008.
Pendleton Ward created the series but it was directed by Hugo Morales, Larry Leichliter and Pendleton Ward.
The Company that produced Adventure Time is Cartoon Network Studios.
This American series was made in Land Ooo where these two characters are our heroes, Finn The Human and Jake The Dog.
As this animaties series is being played in Cartoon Network the target audience is children. Yet many teenagers love adventure time which is why they have gone further into the series and made Aventure Time shirts for teenagers and som other stuff as they realised the success of the series and the impact on children and teenagers.

Why do i like Adventure Time?

I like adventure time because its not just a normal series, it actually has a great backstory. It takes place in an apocalyptic that was caused by The Great Mushroom War. Also throughout the series there are many references to the nuclear war.
Also the character are so well thought through and all of them have a backstory.
Finn and Jake are our main characters. Jake is an adventurous human and jake is his 28 year old adoptive brother who has the power of turning into any shape, shrink or make himself grow. He has a pretty cool girlfriend who is a unicorn and shes called Lady Rainicorn and she only speaks Korean.

There is also a world made of candy which is pretty awesome and there is where Princess Bubblegum comes into the story. She secretly likes Finn and Finn likes her back and there is the typical romance theme between them too throughout the series.

Animated Paula

I added a solid black background and then i added the first letter which was "P" then the next shot I got the next letter and placed it right next to the first one. And so i did this for all the letters.

Louis Davis Animated

I used Photoshop for this. I added the video on to the timeline as i did for the rocket one, i also changed the timing for each shot and then made it on repeat so it constantly plays.

Animated Rocket

This was made in photoshop where i created a timeline and added the file of all this single layers.
I made the rocket and the number 3 come up first then made the 3 disappear and the 2 come up and so on towards the end.
I made the rocket move by created lays in between. I placed the rocket at the bottom then at the end i played it at the top.
I then made it play continuously so it plays nonstop.
I also changed the time of the images so it would go faster than one second per image so it would flow.
